Back when radio ruled and the boombox gave us mixtapes, live broadcasts were the very essence of the Detroit club-music scene. Technology was turning cassettes into CDs and Rebecca’s frequent trips to Harmony House fueled her music collection. She poured over the cherished tunes that were spun on Saturday nights at the State Theatre, Detroit’s legendary “Club X”. First inspired by Stacey “Hotwaxx” Hale, the Godmother of House Music, who was reigning over the airwaves, it was only a matter of time before Rebecca would satiate her musical appetite as a disc jockey.
Rebecca is a seasoned radio DJ having mixed for FM and internet-radio shows hosted across the globe. She hosts her own monthly program “D-SCOVERY” on London’s Aaja Radio highlighting contemporary techno and house from Detroit. She tours internationally as a DJ and live performer and has been featured at notable events from Movement Electronic Music Festival to Tresor in Berlin.
Goldberg has self-released music and multimedia projects, and since her debut vinyl release, 313 Acid Queen, she has been affiliated with the multidisciplinary arts collective Detroit Underground. She has written original scores for classic films Le Voyage Dans La Lune and Gojira, including live performances at David Lynch’s members-only club, Silencio, in Paris and Armageddon Beachparty in Detroit, respectively. Her latest release, BUILDINGS, is a collaboration with Italian artist and labelmate, SickBoy, and is set to be released in Spring 2021 via Detroit Underground.
